Oak Glen High School Band/Chorus Spring Concert Slated for Thursday
The Oak Glen High School Concert Band and Chorus (both under the direction of Wendy Zinn) will be presenting their annual Spring Concert this Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 7:00p.m.. This event will be held at the High School in the "Little Theatre". There is no admission charge for this concert, and all community members are welcomed to attend to hear the band perform and the choir sing.
If you are attending this event, please park in the school parking lot ~ there is plenty of room. Furthermore, if you have never been to the school; just follow the hall to the right in the school from above the cafeteria, and the "Little Theatre" is on the right across from the snack machines.
A great show is planned for this evening, and I hope you all can attend to support our high school's music program and to just have a good time.
Hope to see you all there! :-)

Blogger is having issues with their recent changes.
Blogger seems to be having issues since the changes to the Blogger site. With these technical issues, I have noticed that the site will not allow me add links to the two link tabs on the left side of this page (where I share all the videos). I managed to get the names in, but it overall is not cooperating.
If you are having problems viewing any of the videos from the links, please refer to the YouTube playlists. I put the videos in both a playlist and the listings on the left hand side of this page. Moreover, all the videos are in order on both the play lists and lists by date of event. If you are looking for a certain video, and can't find it, please email me and I will happily send you the individual link for that video.

Thank you for your patience. I will be sure to let you all know when Blogger fixes these issues.

West Virginia Region 1 Band Festival is Slated for Friday, April 20, 2012.
The Oak Glen High School Band will be playing at the West Virginia Region 1 Band Festival this Friday, April 20, 2012. The band participates in this event every year, and will be involved in festivities this year as well. The band goes down there, plays one to two tunes (with the option of doing a sight-reading as well) in front of three judges qualified in the field of music, and then receives a number from the panel of judges to score their performances. Furthermore, everything is recorded live with the commentary of the judges so that the band can improve upon their weaknesses ~ this also helps the band to know their strong points from the comments.
During the performance, outsiders are welcomed to sit in the theatre where the bands perform and listen to the music. Usually you see a lot of parents there, but community members come as well in support of their local bands. So if you have nothing to do this Friday, you can come down (if you like) to West Virginia Region 1 Band Festival in support our local pride and band.
The band will be leaving the the High School at 10:00a.m.. They will be there probably late in the 11th hour to get themselves set up for their performance. They will be on the stage warming up at 12:00p.m., and are scheduled to perform for the judges at 12:40p.m. ~ so plan accordingly.
Here are directions to John Marshall High School for anyone not sure (click text below this line please):
Follow this link to AAA Directions from Chester, WV.
~When you get to this link, please start with #5. This is with my directions, but when I just put Chester it doesn't take you the same way. I would recommend the Ohio side to save time, In WV you have all kinds of hills and valleys to pass through.
If I am able to make this event, I will report on the band's progress at a later time. Never-the-less, hope to see you there in support of our band.

On Tuesday, December 20, 2011 the Oak Glen High School Concert Band and Chorus performed their winter Christmas Concert. This was a close to marching season, and a welcome the upcomming concert/Band Festival season. The band has had a wonderful autumn semester! They sounded and looked impeccable at the football games, and Christmas Parades this year; leaving very many locals proud and pleased.
(Below is the official program from the event)

Just wanted to draw attention to the donations section of the program. The band got so much wonderful support this year! Nice for the community to be so helpful. |
The band will be practicing pieces for Band Festival at John Marshall that is coming up in April. More information will be posted at a later time on the matter. Never-the-less, the Spring concert will be the next local event for the band. More information to come on that as well.
If you want to catch up with the Marhcing Band's 2011 autumn season, don't forget that videos from all the home games and Christmas Parades the band participated in can be view by following the links on the left hand side of this page.
