Christmas concert planned for this evening.

Have nothing to do this evening? Don't forget that the Oak Glen High School Band/Chorus Christmas Concert is this evening (December 20, 2011) at 7:00p.m.. The event will be in the Little Theatre at the High School, and I do not believe there is admission; however, I am not certain on that. Never-the-less, donations out of the kindness of your heart are always appreciated. Hope to see you there.

New Cumberland Christmas Parade-2011 & a great end to a wonderful marching season.

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, the Oak Glen High School Marching Band (under the direction of Wendy Zinn) participated in the New Cumberland Christmas Parade. Along with Oak Glen, the city of New Cumberland was honored to host Weirton High School Marching Band as well. Line up for the parade was at 4:00p.m., and started about 5:00p.m.. It was blustery cold, but Oak Glen pushed through and did an excellent job! They sounded absolutely wonderful and left their community proud once again. This was the last event for the marching band this season, and their excellent performance on Saturday was a great end to the marching year.

As we close the 2011 Oak Glen High School Marching Band season, we now move into the concert season. (I will post again when time is closer) The Winter concert will be Tuesday, December 20th staring 7:00p.m. and will be held in the 'Little Theatre' at the high school. Furthermore, if you missed any of the home games, or Christmas parades that the band were in; be sure to check out the list of videos on the left side of this page. I still have several more I will be able to upload when my break starts from college, so keep an open eye.

Merry Christmas!!!

Oak Glen High School Marching Band's final Christmas parade set for Saturday.

Herald Star
December 8, 2011

"NEW CUMBERLAND - The city Christmas Parade is set to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday.
This year's theme is "Let it Snow," and lineup will begin at 4 p.m. at Marshall Street and proceed north on state Route 2 to the the city volunteer fire department, according to Tammy Jenkins, city clerk and parade committee member.
"Santa Claus will be at the fire department following the parade," said Jenkins, adding cookies will be available for the little ones, and parents are welcome to take photos of children with St. Nick if they bring their own cameras.
Jenkins said the parade will include floats, the Weir and Oak Glen high school marching bands, units from the Hancock County Sheriff Department and City Police, the city fire department and other neighboring emergency first-responders.
"I think we have about 30 entries this year," said Jenkins, adding the parade typically is well attended by city residents.
The National Weather Service is predicting nearly perfect parade weather, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid-20 to the 30s for Saturday evening. Late entries are welcome to show up during lineup, said Jenkins. For information, call (304) 670-4108."

Oak Glen High School Marching Band will be there. Come support them, and just enjoy the parade. I will be there taking records of the band (as usually), so you might even see me there walking around. Hope to see you.

East Liverpool Christmas Parade-2011

On the evening of Saturday, December 3, 2011; East Liverpool (Ohio) had the honor of having the Oak Glen High School Marching Band participate in their Christmas Parade. Oak Glen as well as East Liverpool High School Marching Band, Weirton High School Marching Band, Beaver Local High School Marching Band, and the East Liverpool Area Alumni Band joined one another in the festivities. Line up for the parade was at 4:00p.m., and started a little after 5:00p.m.. Oak Glen did wonderful. People usually pass judgment on the band’s size before they even play. I can honestly state that from my observation, Oak Glen High School Marching Band sounded much louder (or equal in volume) than (to) the other participating bands. After the parade, I overheard many East Liverpoolites talking to one another about how far the OGHS marching band has come, and how well rounded they sounded and played.
Good Job Guys!!!

Chester Christmas Parade-2011

On Saturday, December 3, 2011, Chester (West Virginia) was honored to have the Oak Glen High School Marching Band in their 2011 Hometown Christmas Parade. Oak Glen was joined by Beaver Local High School Marching Band, Weirton High School Marching Band, and the East Liverpool Area Alumni Band in the festivities. Lineup was at 1:00p.m. and the parade started around 2:00 p.m. The band sounded absolutely wonderful, and left many Chesterites very proud.

Two parades to see this weekend.

This Saturday, December 3rd; Oak Glen High School Marching Band will be participating in two local parades. Chester's Hometown Christmas Parade in the afternoon and East Liverpool's Christmas Parade in the evening. Line-up for Chester is at 1:00p.m., and is supposed to begin at 2:00p.m.. Line-up for East Liverpool is at 4:00p.m., and is supposed to begin at 5:00p.m.. It is supposed to be freezing all day, so dress warmly. While you are in Chester, you may want to check out the people set up in the Legion, and down in the library (by Allison) for craft shows. There will also be food vendors set up all along the street ~ between the Legion and the Sacred Heart Church, and on the side walk by the Legion. If the weather starts to get to you at night while in East Liverpool, I do believe Coffee Fusion & Tea Company in the old Ogilvie store is supposed to be open for the event ~ they have some good stuff.
Be sure to watch this site. I will be posting about both parades sometime this week, and uploading the videos to the YouTube playlist.
Have a great weekend everyone, and hope to see you this Saturday.
